WHAT IS A SEER RATING?
SEER rating means seasonal energy efficiency ratio. It is how the efficiency of your heating and cooling equipment is measured. Basically, the SEER is the amount of cooling your system delivers per dollar spent on electricity. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the system will be. Most often this number ranges between 14 to 21.
WHY DO I NEED REGULAR OR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE?
Your heating and cooling systems work incredibly hard everyday to perform their functions for your home. The continual operation along with constant stopping and starting can wear down your equipment if the proper care and maintenance is delayed.
By performing regular maintenance, you can maximize the lifecycle of your heating or cooling unit and guard against many common equipment failures.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED?
You should have maintenance done on your system once per year to ensure maximum efficiency and prevent potential problems.
Preventative maintenance inspections can uncover leaks, rust, rot, soot, frayed wires and corroded electrical contacts that the naked eye may not notice.
WHAT EQUIPMENT TYPICALLY REQUIRES REGULAR MAINTENANCE?
Heat pumps and air conditioners should be checked at least once per year. Inspections should include: the fan, compressor, indoor coils, outdoor coils, line kits and refrigerant lines on heat pumps and air conditioners.
Gas-fired boilers and furnaces should have a thorough maintenance service at least every two years. Inspections should include: ductwork, pipes, dampers, valves, chimney, registers, radiators, pumps, blowers, fuel lines, the gas meter, oil tank and each component of the furnace and/or boiler unit.
ARE THERE ADVANTAGES TO HAVING A PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT?
Electronic, programmable thermostats are more accurate and efficient than mercury thermostats. A programmable thermostat allows you to control the temperature in your home and change it at various times of day without ever touching your thermostat. Because everything is automatic, you will not need to remember to change the setting on your own.
WHAT TYPE OF FILTERS SHOULD I USE?
Standard filters, a flat filter made of spun glass fibers, will keep your system and its ductwork clean but they don’t really improve the indoor air quality. To do this, you will need a media filter. A media filter is a deeply pleated filter and is seven times better than a standard filter at removing dust, viruses, allergens and particles from your home.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY FILTERS?
JC Mechanical recommends that you replace your disposable filters at least once a month for maximum efficiency. If you have washable filters, they should be cleaned once a month.
FINANCING QUESTIONS
IF I PAY OFF THE LOAN EARLY, DO I STILL OWE INTEREST? AND ARE THERE ANY EARLY PRE-PAYMENT PENALTIES?
You can pay off the loan amount at any point and you’ll only pay for interest that has already accrued. Mosaic does not have any prepayment penalties.
DO PRE-PAYMENTS GO TO PRINCIPAL OR INTEREST?
Pre-payments are first applied to interest that has accrued, and then applied to principal.
WHEN AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING DOWN MY LOAN AND AVOIDING ALL INTEREST CHARGES?
If the balance of the loan is paid in full by the promotional period end date listed on your monthly statement, you owe no interest. If the loan balance is not paid in full by the promotional period end date, you owe the amount of accrued interest on your most recent monthly statement, and you will have to start making monthly payments on your loan.
WHEN DOES MY LOAN START?
Home improvement financing through Mosaic dates are based on first payments to the partner. For roofing or windows/doors, we make our first payment to the partner as soon as the customer signs the contract. For HVAC/other, we make the first and only payment when the job is complete and the customer signs-off that the job is complete.
ONCE CREDIT IS APPROVED, HOW LONG IS IT VALID?
60 days. You must sign your loan agreement within 60 days of receiving approval.
HOW DO I FIND OUT HOW MUCH I OWE ON MY LOAN?
You can log in to your online account 24 hours a day to view your loan balance and/or schedule a payment for the date of your choosing. If you would like to obtain a full payoff amount for a date up to 10 days in the future, please email loanservicing@ joinmosaic.com.
IS THERE AN ESCALATOR ON THE LOAN?
No
WILL I NEED TO VERIFY MY INCOME?
In the credit approval process, you’ll be asked your individual “gross yearly income.” Please be as accurate as possible. If further clarification is required, you may be asked for “proof of income” through a W2 or a pay stub. (This verification only impacts a very small percentage of customers.)
CAN I APPLY AS A CO-APPLICANT?
No co-applicants are accepted at this time, but someone else in the household can apply if the original applicant is denied. Applicants must be listed as owners of the property.
IF I FAILED CREDIT, WHAT CAN I DO?
You can re-apply after 30 days, or another member of the household can apply. Applicants must be listed as owners of the property.
